Preface: Last year Roaring Fork travelled out to us and we handled them pretty well. Our outside backs and attackers played in a significant role in breaking down their defense. They are an older and deeper squad this year, so this is a win we are going to have to fight for. Plus, they are at home so they know their field, play at altitude. We are going to have to go hard at them and define the culture of the game from the very start. RF Strengths: Roaring Fork has a very strong attack. Their wingers are fast and their 9 is a good hold up player. She does well to push the line (and while she is off sides sometimes) she is always looking to get in behind. RF appears to play a pretty direct 4-3-3 where the wingers stay wide and really try to work the flanks. They will attempt...

 Mullen vs Smoky MSC (Mullen Soccer Complex: 3601 S Lowell Blvd. Denver, CO 80236) Varsity @4, JV @5:30 Boots on: 3:15 Warm up: 3:20 Match Preface: Smoky has been an interesting opponent for us over that last couple of seasons. Two springs ago we trounced them at home like 9-0 and then last year we went up early, they tied on a PK and we won off a last minute header from a corner kick.  The two games were defined primarily by Smoky's tactics. Two years ago they left the game wide open, and we punished them for it. Last year, they sat in a low block and waited to counter, and we really struggled to win with the ball.  I imagine that we will see the latter of those two tactics this year, and we will have to find a way through the block. And like last year, they do have some players who are dangerous on the counter, so we have to be prepared for that. Smoky Strengths: I think that Smoky's biggest strength is their attacking line. Expect them to come after us today! Be brave, stay organized, play our game.  Cherry Creek Strengths: CC has a number of talented players - (3) Usually plays out on the right wing but definitely holds a more central position. She is their run on player who they are looking for with their through balls. She is big and fast, and crafty on the ball. She is going to be looking to make that inverted run on to balls through the gaps or over the top, so we need to absorb her with organized positioning. The CB swings and her OB recovers inside.
