Image
Match Report: Mullen vs. PRA Location: Prospector Ridge Academy Turf Field (Just North of the school)  2555 Preble Creek Pkwy, Broomfield, CO 80023 Time : V@4 - JV immediately to follow  Notes : Varsity early release is at 1:45 - team meeting is at 1:45 in room 313. Arrival time at PRA is 3:00-3:10 please. JV will be release after school and depart circa 3:30 I believe. Both teams: White all the way down Today's quote: “I cannot have a concept of football where everything is based on the opposition. We have to dictate the game,”  - Mikel Arteta Preface: I've included this quote today on account of the fact that we do not have a ton of information (outside statistical data) on PRA. However, with that said, I believe that if we focus on our soccer, and dictate the press and culture of the game, we can remain unbeaten in this campaign. What we do know (kind of) about PRA:  PRA has a couple of players of interest - 1. They have Kateri Trujillo, and she is awesome...

Mullen vs. CA

Image
Match Report: Mullen vs. Colorado Academy Location: MSC (3601 S Lowell Blvd.) Time: 4:30pm (Team meeting: 2:45 - Team Picture: 3:40 - Warm up: 3:50) Preface: CA has a long history of playing good soccer and fighting for final four spots as well as state championships. They draw talented players, and they are confident in their identity. With that said, they do not have as much depth this year, and they are also returning from Spring Break. We need to capitalize on this fact, press them hard, transition quickly, and demand a fast paced athletic game from them. CA strengths: CA's primary strengths reside in their individual talent. They have a couple of girls who are relatively dynamic and who can really play. The players of interest are as follows: Number 4: She plays the 10, and she is crafty. She will move into the half spaces between the midfield and the defense. She is fast, and fit, and she will pull the trigger from anywhere. We have to treat her a little like an Ella Moody a...

Mullen vs. Windsor

Match Report: Mullen vs. Windsor Location: Mullen High School Soccer Complex (3601 S Lowell Blvd) Time: Both teams play at 4:30 Apparel: Varsity - Navy all the way down, JV - Navy, White, Navy Notes : There will be snacks available throughout the day, make sure you are keeping up with your hydration and your resources. Varsity Team meeting is in C5 at 2:45 - Team Picture is at 3:40 - Warm up for all teams starts at 3:50 (Players must be dressed, booted up, and ready to go) Windsor Strengths:   Players of interest- 2: Ella Mooney - is a good player who operates in the middle of the park. She leads the team in assists, she can dribble, and shoot from range. In many ways, she is their most dangerous player. The key is for our defensive midfielders to constantly be aware of her presence on the field. We do not want to allow her to build momentum, and we just need to harass her all game long. She should never get the ball with out pressure. If she constantly feels like there is a ...

Mullen vs. Roaring Fork

Soccer Report: Mullen vs. Roaring Fork Location: Mullen High School (3601 S. Lowell Blvd. Denver, CO 80236) Time: Varsity @10 (Team meeting at 8:45am), JV @12 (Arrive by 11:10) Notes: We are home, so you are navy all the way down - JV, you are navy, white, navy. Games are early in the day, so make sure to wake up at a reasonable time, hydrate, and eat well before the game.  Preface:  Roaring Fork is in town from the Western slope, and this is their second game in two days. With that said, they are an athletic group, and I did not feel like their game tonight was particularly demanding. They are coming off a nice win, and will be looking to grab another before the drive home. This is our first home game of the season, and we need to come out with energy and authority. This is our chance to establish a strong home presence. Roaring Fork Strengths: Athleticism: On the whole, this is an athletic group of mountain girls. They are fit, they have some serious speed up top and o...

Mullen vs. Mountain Range (Season opener)

Image
Soccer Report: Mullen vs Mountain Range Location: Varsity @North Stadium 4:00pm, JV @Mountain Range Turf (North side) 6:00pm North Stadium:   12500 Delaware Dr, Westminster, CO 80234 Mountain Range High School:   12500 Huron St, Westminster, CO 80234 (The Stadium is on the East side of the school) Notes: We are away so we are wearing white all the way down. Please make sure to eat before the game. Both teams will be playing on turf. Preface: These girls at Mountain Range (like us) have been playing high school soccer for a long time. They suffered a lot as sophomores, after the pandemic, in a hard northern league. But they have been playing varsity for a long time, against very tough teams, so the speed of the game and tenacity won't be a surprise to them. They will try to work together and stay organized. Their coach is very defensive in nature and we should expect to see them underneath and to have a lot of time on the ball. This should not stop us from still playing quickl...

Mullen vs Ponderosa (2nd Scrimmage)

Image
Soccer Report: Mullen vs. Ponderosa (2nd scrimmage) Time: 4:15 PM (Arrive by 3:30) Location: Ponderosa High School Turf Field ( 7007 Bayou Gulch Rd, Parker, CO 80134) Notes: Wear white. Dress warm. Make sure to eat before the game! Preface: Ponderosa had a decent spring last year with a relatively young team - they graduated a handful of impact players and they are pretty young. This is a team that will be figuring out how to get organized and working to find their identity. If we can capitalize on the half spaces and pull them out of shape, we should be able to find some success. Ponderosa Strengths: Ponderosa has a long history of being a rather competitive 4A school. Though enrollment has been down for a couple of years, they still draw good players from the Parker area. Their coach is very direct in his style of play, and often times his teams are very physical. Be prepared for that. We will see conservative play in the back field, and Ponderosa will look to counter with the big ba...
